I finished NaNoWriMo...Day 28/29

My fingers have curled into strange, deformed claws, the sounds of keyboards clicking has become my nightmare and my mind has been utterly destroyed but I can honestly say that finishing NaNoWriMo 2010 has been amazing.
For a while I wasn't sure that I would be able to do it, especially with my trip to America (where I am currently writing this). I felt as if I wasn't up to the challenge about half way through but I have to say that my family really encouraged me, mainly by putting up with me.

But, after writing like an insane maniac for the last month I have some questions that I have been going over. These questions include things such as: what sane individual would contemplate trying to write 50000 words in the space of 30 days? What good can come from a spurt of craptastic writing? (My writing felt somewhat craptastic but I am not saying that it is the same for everyone.) What does finishing this task say about me?

Let's just say that there aren't any proper answers for these questions but I know for a fact that I would definitely attempt this again next year. There is something to this idea of splurging on a page that makes it all worthwhile - and what do I mean by it? Obviously, it is the joy that comes from the pure freedom of writing something that you don't have to take overly seriously. I don't think I can provide a proper explanation for something that you have to experience to understand...very Matrix of me, I know...

I would write more but I feel the need to recover and maybe spend a couple of days away from writing - then I will be back with better blogs and more interesting material...

  1. yaa! good for you. My job requires too much writing to even consider NaNoWriMo.

I think it helps you to just get the story on the page, you can worry about and even fix the crappyness later.

    are you coming back? :-(
