Weekend Round Up #2

Gah - that is the sound I have made for much of this week. There was no consistency to my week, which I would normally take in my stride but, for some strange reason, this week was just ...

Anyway, enough of my whining. Here is my weekend round up.

One - If I could recommend any film at the moment I would recommend Prisoners.
Seriously, this film was intense. Fair warning, this film is rather long and covers some dark themes. Abduction, abuse and the darker side of human nature but the acting, alone, was amazing. Hugh Jackman was extremely committed to his role in this film. (I might have to do a proper film review on it as well.)

Two - Leonard Nimoy wants to be everyone's honorary Grandfather. Read more here.

This just makes me feel happy. :)

Three- This is just brilliant. Nick Santonastasso is an inspirational young man with a great sense of humour. Watch as he pranks The Walking Dead's own Norman Reedus.

Four - The amazing video game The Last of Us is finally getting it's DLC. It is a prequel that deals with Ellie and Riley (her friend from the comic series that was released shortly after the game.) Definitely can't wait to play it. The trailer looks good. Read more here.  I'm super pumped!!!

Five - And, finally, if you wander over to Huffington Post there is this interesting article about a high school principal adding more fuel to the school dress code. For those too lazy to click through, Marion Mayer's new principal said this about the dress code:

"Modest is hottest" and "boys will be boys." (Source)

There is so much I want to say about this but Marion summed it up beautifully in her own words on this Huffington Post link Why I'm Taking a Stand Against My School's 'Dress Code'

On a side note - I don't get it. We, here, in New Zealand have school uniforms so I don't know what students where over there but I'm of the mind of - dress to your own comfort at school. (Obviously within reason). I also feel that it is inexcusable for a principal to imply that boys have no self control...anyway, I will leave it at that.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I'm about to cook some cajun style chicken...

Peace and Pancakes all
Jaime

  1. Do you think Leonard Nimoy would mind if I called him Grandpa Spock? He wouldn't have to get his ears vulcanized or anything.

    1. I have a feeling he'd probably be okay with it. :) I would if I were him.
